Top TV shows to inspire you with your Home Renovation

 

You know you’re growing up when your penchant for reality TV takes a strong swing in the direction of home renovation shows. You’re less bothered about the contestants on Love Island and more concerned with they can stick to such a tight budget on Grand Designs and still get those results. Read on to find out some gems in the home renovation show sphere.

 

Sarah Beeny’s Renovate Don’t Relocate

Available on Discovery+, property expert Sarah Beeny unlocks the potential in houses to convince the current owners to makeover their space rather than to undergo a move.

As well as providing great tips to maximise space and make your home work for you, there is also a very snazzy virtual ‘walkthrough’ feature, allowing the owners to experience what the ‘after’ would be like before any works are done.

 

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces

Available on Channel 4, George Clarke visits people who are transforming the most unique places into functional properties. Milk floats become luxe air b n bs whilst horse trailers are turned into mobile shops.

 

Grand Designs

It’s a classic – but for good reason. Available on Channel 4, Kevin McCloud meets people who create their dream houses from scratch. These properties are often gargantuan and allow the viewer to watch a project go from the ideas to completion stage.

 

DIY SOS

Available on BBC 1, this DIY series follows the story of a family who need help building their dream home. With over 31 seasons over the past 22 years, this series has wormed its way into our hearts and looks set to stay!

 

Changing Rooms

One of original DIY shows to air, two couples swap houses to decorate one room. The transformations are often quite dramatic and often leave the viewers questioning if the owners will like it!

 

Escape to the Chateau

Available on Channel 4, you can follow the story of buying, renovating and restoring the 19th century Chateau de la Motte Husson. From uninhabitable, can the couple create their dream wedding venue and transform this abandoned chateau into a functioning business?
